Russell F. Bell Jr.
PORT ST. LUCIE, FL: Russell F. Bell Jr., 77, formerly of Mansfield, died Tuesday, November 5, 2012 at his home in Port St. Lucie, FL following an extended illness.
Born November 29, 1934 in Mansfield, the son of the late Russell F. Sr. and Rosemary (O'Rock) Bell, Russ was a 1953 graduate of Madison High School. Upon retirement from AK Steel and the Air National Guard Reserves, he relocated to Florida in 2001, making Port St. Lucie his home.
Russ was a member of the AmVets-Robert P. Spreng Post #26 and the American Legion-Stuart, FL. Very mechanically inclined, he could fix anything. He was an avid motorcycle and car enthusiast and was also an early member of the Gents Auto Club. He spent many hours "tinkering" with motors of all sorts. He also spent time officiating high school basketball games. Russ was a man who truly enjoyed retirement, spending much of his leisure time creating a tropical paradise on his property in Florida to enjoy with family and friends.
Russ is survived by his wife Nancy; one son: Corey Bell of Pendleton, IN; two daughters: Dori Pappas of Phoenix, AZ and Wendi (Tim) Knapp of Mansfield; three stepsons Mike Sand, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Mark Sand, Lexington, OH, and Steve Sand, Columbus, OH; a sister: Pat Glattke of Modesto, CA; seven grandchildren: Nick Bell, Brynn Bell, and Erinn Bell of Anderson, IN, Tony and Sarah Pappas of Phoenix, AZ, Ryan "Cheech" and Brett Ashley Knapp of Mansfield; and great-granddaughter: Marley Jo Knapp, also of Mansfield.
Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his parents.
