Ruth Ann Hardman

MANSFIELD: Ruth's final wish was to spend a few days in her own home surrounded by good food and family. Her loved ones were honored they were able to fulfill her request. Ruth Ann Hardman passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 in her home. She was 72.

She was born February 19, 1940 in Ashland to Leland Barnes, Sr. and Martha (Strobel) Barnes. Eighteen years later she graduated from Ashland High School and married Calvin H. "Cal" Hardman on December 20, 1958.

Ruth dedicated her life to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker for her husband and two boys. She was an excellent cook and will be long-remembered for the delicious fudge she made each year for Christmas.

In her spare time Ruth enjoyed painting still life, playing with her pet ferrets, and doting on her grandchildren. She also loved cheering her Cleveland Indians on to victory!

She is survived by two sons William (Joan) Hardman and Colin Hardman both of Mansfield; three grandchildren Michael, Debbie, and Jessie Hardman; her mother Martha Barnes of Ashland; siblings Dorothy Thompson of Danville, Charles Barnes of Ashland, Jean (Joe) Hulme of Indian Trail, NC, John (Nancy) Barnes of Ashland, Martha Lee Duffey of Ashland, Donald (Pauline) Barnes of Cincinnati, and Glenn (Cheryl) Barnes of Layton, UT; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband Cal Hardman on February 22, 2002, brothers Leland Barnes, Jr. and Robert Lewis Barnes.

A memorial service celebrating Ruth's life will be held 7 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2012 in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate.

Contributions in Ruth's honor to Hospice of North Central Ohio may be made at the funeral home.
