SGT. Adolph "Skeeter Man" Briggs Jr.

ANDALUSIA, AL: SGT. Adolph Briggs Jr. was born to proud parents, Shirley Ann Royster Briggs and Adolph Briggs, Sr. on May 26, 1974 in Mansfield, OH. He departed this life on January 15, 2013 due to a tragic accident.

His lifelong dream was to become a Marine. Therefore upon graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corp serving in the Haitian Conflict and others. Sgt. Adolph Jr. was a strong and tough Marine; he served his country to the fullest. He received numerous honors, including; Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forced Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal Certificate of Commendation Achievement, Meritorious Mast and Rifle Marksman Badge. He received an honorable discharged and was working to no prevail to receive his military disability. It was difficult for him to accept that the Veteran Administration would not co-operate, support nor respect him as he attempted to establish his disability benefits after he so proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp.

Adolph Jr., "Skeeter Man" as he was affectionately called, joined Mt. Herman Baptist Church (Reverend Joel L. King Sr., Pastor) in Mansfield, OH at an early age. After moving to Andalusia, AL he joined First Baptist Church under Pastor Johnny Davis of Montgomery, AL.

His had a passion for cooking and it he joyfully served his family and others with many wonderful meals. Oh what fun he shared with his family.

Left to cherish his memories are his parents, Adolph Sr. and Shirley Ann Briggs; his three beautiful loving girls (the loves of his life), Yasmeen, Ny'Asia and Sha'Kira Briggs; their mother, Latrice Washington Briggs of Mansfield, OH; two brothers, Jason D. Briggs of Columbus, OH and James Jackie) Royster of Evergreen, AL; one sister, Ida Widmann of Colorado Springs; grandmother, Mrs. Ezzie Dell Royster of Evergreen, AL; devoted aunts, Geraldine R Mims, Denise L McCorvey, both of Evergreen, AL, Brenda Roberson of Monroeville, AL Kateena Briggs and Ruby Faye Nash of Lansing, MI; a special aunt and uncle, Deacon Ester and Deaconess Ivie Briggs of Mansfield, OH who helped nurture Skeeter Man" earlier in life; his mother-in-law, Clyone Washington of Mansfield, OH.

He was preceded in death by a special loved one, Taylor Alexander Atwater, San Antonio, TX; one brother, Christopher Cohee, Oklahoma City; and a special friend, Shawn Wilson, Pennsylvania.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Mt. Herman Baptist Church, 292 Charles St. Mansfield.
