Shirlee Ann (Metz) Miller
GALION: Shirlee Ann (Metz) Miller, 78, of Galion, died April 13, 2014. Born November 9, 1935 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Karl P. and Leona F. (Rachel) Long. Shirlee retired from Pepsi Company in 1995 and prior to that, had worked at Mansfield Tire. A playful, ornery, stubborn lady, Shirlee loved flowers and gardening. She had entered several contests through Kingwood Center. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, fishing, and playing cards. She was a member of Sons of Herman for over 30 years and was a member of the VFW
Auxiliary. A major life highlight for Shirlee was shaking hands with President John F. Kennedy.
Surviving are her husband, Floyd "Ed" Miller; daughters, Kimberly Moses of Nashville, TN and Lisa (Lindy) Rachel of Galion; grandkids, Jimmy Eberhart, Shannon Rachel, and Brook (Matthew) Scheffler; sister, Norma (Bill) Rickert; and three step-daughters; Margo White, Marlene (Bob) Hamill, and Karen (Gary Pritchard) Miller.
Shirlee was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, whom she was married to for 43 years, James Metz; great grandson, Conner Dennison; and sister, Betty Swank.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Rd., Ontario. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 104 West First St., Mansfield, OH 44902. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sons of Herman Auxiliary or St. Peter's Catholic Church.
