Stanley Lawrence Andrews
MANSFIELD: Stanley Lawrence Andrews passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a courageous battle against cancer. He was 70.
Stanley was born March 9, 1942 in Cincinnati to Stanley M. and Sally T. (Thompson) Andrews. At the age of 24 he married Linda Marie Bayne on November 11, 1967 in Rockville, MD.
Stanley worked for the YMCA as an Executive Director for 30 years, ending his career in Willard. He was active in Kiwanis and a member of the Masons. Following his retirement in 2000 he spent time visiting family and taking trips with his wife. Above all, he always provided for his family and helped those whom he saw had a need.
He had a keen interest in genealogy and thoroughly enjoyed swapping stories at reunions and keeping in touch with extended relatives. At every gathering Stanley could be found near a deck of cards.
Stanley knew how to light up a room; his humor always kept people laughing. In quieter times he would share memorized poetry taught to him by his mother.
When his three boys were young he was always planning their next fishing expedition, camping trip or vacation. He loved to hike outdoors with his faithful canine companion, KC.
In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by his sister Mary Shaffer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda; his children: Michael D. Andrews of Mansfield, Stephen E. (Julie A.) Andrews of Copley, and David A. Andrews of Mansfield; grandchildren Micah Andrews, Katie Andrews, Megan Andrews, and Mika Littleton; siblings Karen Walker, Ruth Lyon, and Sally Trocano; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Andrews family will greet friends from 9-11a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home with a service celebrating his life to follow at 11a.m. His son, Pastor Stephen E. Andrews, will officiate.
