Wesley Hayslip, Jr

MANSFIELD: Wesley Hayslip Jr. passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at home, following a lengthy illness.

Wesley was born on April 8, 1934, in New Boston, OH, to Wesley Sr. and Opal Poole Hayslip. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving his country in the Korean Conflict. On March 27, 1965, he married his sweetheart, Ollie Morton Hayslip, and she survives. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, and also loved to collect old coins and take care of his birdfeeder in his back yard. He especially loved to spend time with his family and his grandchildren.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two children, Laura (Mike) Smith of Lucas and Keith (Barbara) Hayslip of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Baylee Hayslip, Karlee Smith, Kaleb Smith, Tayler Hayslip, Aryn Smith, and Holly Dishong; and one sister, Hazel Dunham of Springfield, OH.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Harley Hayslip, and one sister Helen Schnitzler.

Calling hours will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2013. Burial will be in the Veteran's section of Mansfield Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail
