William "Gene" Frank
Mansfield: William "Gene" Frank, 87, of Mansfield, died April 3, 2014. Born January 18, 1927 in Perrysville, OH, he was the son of Ralph and Estella (Black) Frank. Gene retired from Mansfield Tire after 25 years of service and went on to work for the State Department of Liquor Control. He loved sports, including bowling, basketball, golf, and horseshoes, and loved watching his grandsons participate in soccer, baseball, basketball, and bowling. Gene was a big Browns, Indians, and OSU fan. A friendly and gentle man, he never met a stranger. He was kind, hardworking, and loyal. Gene enjoyed going on trips with his family to Salt Fork State Park and to the Indy 500. He was a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and was a member at First United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline Frank; son, David (Susan) Frank of Perrysburg; grandsons, Michael Frank of Bowling Green and Nicholas Frank of Cincinnati; "adopted sons", Mike (Brenda) Schwamberger and Lee (Carrie) Au, both of Mansfield; sister, Norma (Gaylord) Mowers Zody; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Frank; and brothers, Richard, Robert, Donald, and Harold Frank.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 2-5 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Kent W. Joy, will be held Monday, April 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
