William S. Maynard
CRESTLINE: William Sherman "Bill" Maynard, 82, of Crestline, died Friday, December 13, 2013 at home after a two year illness.
Born April 17, 1931 in Inez, Ky., he was the son of Lawrence and Elizabeth (Horn) Maynard. He married Patricia L. (Vicars) Maynard on January 12, 1953 and she survives.
He served in the United States Army
during the Korean Conflict
. Bill worked in assembly at Komatsu Dresser retiring in 1994 and previously he worked at Barefoot Sole in Wadsworth, Ohio. He was a member of the Galion Moose Lodge 303, Polk Twp. Amvets 1979, VFW
Post 4329, Army-Navy Garrison 987 and the Galion American Legion Scarbrough Post 243.
In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Jackie Maynard of Mansfield, Michael Maynard and Kerri Needles of Galion and Billy Jim and Brenda Maynard of Ft. Worth, TX.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Helen and Terry Zealor of Bucyrus and Patti Holloway and special friend Stephen Suter of Crestline; sister Edith Brumfield of Crum, W. Va.; brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Sherry Maynard of Wadsworth; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Matthew Maynard; sister Kathleen and brother Clynell.
The Maynard family will receive friends Friday, December 20, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Funeral Chapel, 218 S. Market St., Galion, where services will be held at 6 p.m. with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Maynard Family Cemetery in Inez, Ky.
Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion/Crestline Veterans
