Clara Mae Virginia Lee (Parks) Carpenter

MANSFIELD: Clara Mae Virginia Lee (Parks) Carpenter, 91, was called to her spiritual home on February 28, 2013, after an extended illness in her home in Raleigh, NC. She was the daughter of the late Robert Edward Lee and Ruth Ann Lawson Lee.

A former resident of Mansfield for many years, Clara Mae (as she was known to friends) was most recently a past member of East Side Church of Christ. She was also a former member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, the American Business Women's Association (ABWA), Eastern Stars, and a 30-year volunteer with the American Red Cross. She also served as past-president of the TOPS Pound Pushers Chapter for many years.

Beside her parents, her husband, Thomas E. Carpenter, and daughters, Ruth Parks Hornung and Mae (Woods) Green, preceded Mrs. Carpenter in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Lucretia Parks-McKinney and grandson/caregiver, Douglas Parks of Raleigh, NC; seven grandchildren Elizabeth Woods (Spartanburg, SC); Robert Woods (Ronda) and Eric Green (Andrea) of Indianapolis, IN; David Parks and Danielle Parks of Mansfield, OH; and Jeffery Parks of Minneapolis, MN.

Mrs. Carpenter also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, Jerry (JayLee) Brookins II, Ashton, Asia, and Austin Green, and MéNawsha, Davanna Ruth, and Draven Parks. Other grieving relatives include nephew, Reginald Parks of Dunbar WV; niece, Kaye Parks of London, WV; and adopted sons, Leo Davis and Edward Talley of Mansfield, OH.

Homegoing services will be officiated by Rev. James Bond, on Friday, March 8, at 1:00 pm, Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., in Mansfield, OH. A visitation for friends will be held at Noon before the service. Interment will be at Oak Grove Memorial Park, 4108 State Route 42 South, Lexington, OH.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the American Red Cross in honor of Mrs. Clara Mae Carpenter.
