Arthur Richards Obituary
SHELBY: Arthur "Dukey" Lee Richards, Sr., 70, of Shelby, was called home to be with the Lord Friday, November 9, 2012 following an extended illness, surrounded by his loving family, while at his son's home.
Arthur was born November 7, 1942 in Girard, Ohio to Ernest "Zeke" and Stella May (Burton) Richards. He started his career with his good friend and mentor, Ellis Nockmoose at Ellis's Body Shop in Mansfield in 1960, which also led to the naming of his oldest son, Ellis. He later managed the body shop at Lou Fritz Buick & Oldsmobile in Ashland for many years. Arthur worked most of his life as a highly skilled auto body technician and was well known for his high work ethics and well run body shops. His unique talents of fabricating classic cars from beginning to end resulted in many prestigious awards throughout his career. Arthur dedicated much of his time to teaching his sons his unique skills, which has resulted in their success, and has also been passed on to grandson, Henry Richards.
Arthur is survived by three sons, Ellis (Penny) Richards, Arthur Jr. (Sharon) Richards, and James (Charlene) Richards; two daughters, Teresa (Bill) Myers and Terry Maness; grandchildren, Henry, Laura, Dalton, Dylan, Houston, Jordan, Robin, Alan, Wesley, Billy, Bobby, Brandy, Ella, and Beau; numerous great grandchildren; one brother, Scotty Richards of Mansfield; and the mother of his children, Carolyn Kline of Ashland.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and youngest brother, Buddy Richards.
Arthur will be sadly missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched throughout his career.
A private service will be conducted for the family. Arthur will be laid to rest with his beloved grandfather, Elam Richards, in Huntington, West Virginia.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the Hospice Nurses and Aides for their wonderful support these past weeks.
