MANSFIELD: Brenda Sue Deener, 61, passed this life Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in her home after a brief illness.
Ms. Deener was born Sunday, December 21, 1952 in Mansfield and was a life long resident of the community.
Brenda was a graduate of Malabar High School's Class of 1971, she went on to attend Ohio Dominican University receiving a Bachelor of Business Degree, and most recently completed her studies in social work. After college Brenda entered the United States Air Force serving 4 years. Brenda was employed by the State of Ohio for 25 years as an auditor, and changed careers with the state becoming a prison guard 10 years ago presently with RICI. She had also started to use her social work training with Richland County Children Services.
Brenda is survived by 3 sisters: Florine (Pastor John) Avery, Myrtle Carter, Mansfield, and Gayle Carrington, East Brunswick, New Jersey; 2 brothers: Henry Deener of Atlanta, Georgia and George Whitney, Memphis, Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews including her niece Monique (Andre) Westerfield, Mansfield; and long time friend Robert Roth, Cleveland.
Her parents A. J. Neal and Cassie Deener-Jones and a sister Mary Ellen Deener preceded Brenda in death.
Friends may call Wednesday in the Ruth Anna Lee Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Services one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service. Services will be officiated by Brenda's brother-in-law Pastor John Avery. Military services will be held by the Richland County Joint Veterans Council. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Brenda's niece Monique at 330 Home Ave. from 5-8 p.m. daily till the day of the funeral.
