ASHLAND: Buford Lambert, 71, of Ashland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Born May 16, 1941 in Nora, Virginia he was the son of Ruben and Elizabeth (Moore) Lambert. He retired from Timken Company and was a Mifflin Volunteer Fireman since 1978 and a Mifflin Township Trustee. Buford enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and fishing but his greatest enjoyment was attending his grandchildren's activities and traveling with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 ½ years, Mavis (Rose) Lambert; a daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Randy Van Hove of Ashland; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Carol Lambert of Strongsville; five grandchildren, Joseph Van Hove, David Van Hove, Garrett Lambert, Libby Lambert and Kenneth Lambert; a brother, Farrell Lambert of Phoenix, AZ; and four sisters, Trula Mercer of Ashland, Shirley Brummitt of Castalia, Ohio, Nina Arrington of Ravenna, Ohio and Fern Marshall of Jeromesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Neece and Helen Nash.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Mansfield Free Will Baptist Church, 998 Laver Road, Mansfield conducted by Pastor Mark Bailey. Burial will follow in Vermillion Cemetery, Hayesville. Friends may also call one hour prior to the services, from 10-11 a.m., at the church on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hay-Ver-Mif Booster Club or the Mifflin Community Volunteer Fire Department.
