MANSFIELD: Calvin Cooledge Caldwell, Sr., 84, of 310 Fern Ave. passed this life Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Caldwell was born on Friday, March 23, 1928 to the late Jack and Catherine McFarland Caldwell and had lived in Mansfield the past 69 years. Calvin was an employee of the Tappan Company retiring in 1985. During his working years Calvin was a self-employed part time contractor, after his retirement it became a full time job. Calvin attended Oasis of Love Church with his wife Maggie. He enjoyed fishing and in his early years he enjoyed playing pool.
Calvin is survived by his wife Maggie McWhorter Caldwell, daughter: Brenda (Michael) Davis, 4 sons: Allen (Margie), Gary, Michael, and Calvin "Peetie" (Mildred) Caldwell, Jr., Mansfield; 9 grandchildren, 11
great grandchildren; 3 step daughters: Kim and Gail McWhorter, and Debbie (Lionel) Perkins, Racine, Wisconsin; 2 step sons: Rodney(Kerisha) McWhorter of Racine, and Ronald (Muminah) McWhorter of Boston, Massachutes; 3 sisters: Sally Sylvester, Lorraine Smith, Mansfield, and Elsie Person, Racine; 5 brothers: Kermit (Dorothy) Caldwell, Dennis (Evelyn) Caldwell, Sr., and Eugene Caldwell, Mansfield, William Caldwell, Ashland, and Curtis (Debra) Caldwell, Sr., Columbus.
In addition to his parents Calvin was preceded in death by his first wife Nettie Newbern Caldwell, son Fredrick Caldwell, 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren, 7 sisters, 1 brothers.
Friends may call Sunday from 1-6 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Services. The family will not be present. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 11:00 AM in the Oasis of Love Church by Dr. Walter Jordan, II. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery
The family will receive friends at their home from 4-8 p.m. daily till the day of service.
