Clinton Wayne "Clint" Edwards

MOUNT GILEAD: Clinton Wayne "Clint" Edwards, age 66, of Mount Gilead, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday evening, January 8, 2014, at MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield, following an extended battle with pneumonia.

On October 27, 1947, Clinton was born in Hazel Park, Michigan, the son of the late Clinton and Inez S. (Sutherland) Edwards. He graduated from Highland High School in the Class of 1965.

A Vietnam veteran, Clint proudly served our county in the U.S. Army and also the National Guard for several years.

On April 29, 1978, he married Judy Carol Colley in Dearborn, Michigan. They shared over 35 wonderful years of marriage, lovingly raising four children along the way.

For 35 years, Clint worked as an inspector at H.P.M. in Mount Gilead. Once they shut down, he took a job as a production associate at Cardington Yutaka Technologies, where he was currently employed. A man of faith, Clint was a long time member of the Marlboro Primitive Baptist Church. He served as clerk of the church for many years. Clint enjoyed following the news of the world around him, reading the newspaper, and following the Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed being outdoors tending to his vegetable garden and working in his garage.

Family meant the world to Clint. They got together most Sunday evenings for a family dinner and bonding time. He always washed his dinner down with an Orange Crush. His favorite place to go with his family was Myrtle Beach. He and Judy went there on their honeymoon and continued to visit whenever they could. He was able to enjoy one last trip to the beach this past summer with his family and enjoyed many good seafood dinners.

Clint will be remembered as a man with a wonderful, teasing sense of humor. He was never shy about lending a hand and helping anyone who needed it. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Clinton is survived by his wife, Judy, of Mount Gilead; four children: Andrew (Melissa) Edwards of Mansfield, Lisa (Shawn) Sandy of Marion, Daniel (Crystal) Edwards of Galion, David (Brittany) Edwards of Mount Gilead; four grandchildren: Abby and A.J. Edwards, Ryan and Paige Sandy; and a baby granddaughter on the way.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Garry Edwards and his first wife, Jean (Sneeringer) Edwards.

The Edwards family will greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Owl Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 7397 County Road 22 (Waterford Road), Fredericktown, OH 43019, with Elders Darvin Edwards and Jack Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in North Fork Cemetery, behind the church.
