MANSFIELD: Cole W. Dever, 16, of Mansfield, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Hospice House in Ashland following a lifelong battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Cole was born June 11, 1997 in Mansfield and was the son of Wendy K. McCartney Hilliard. He was a sophomore at Ontario High School and attended Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church and Mansfield First Assembly of God. Cole loved to be outside, play video games, and watch WWE Wrestling. He especially loved spending time with his nephews and niece, arguing with his brother-in-law, and teasing his sisters. Cole enjoyed his visits with a special service dog named "Sophie".
Along with his mother, Wendy Hilliard, Cole is survived by his two sisters, Tiffany (Donald) Marsh and Dawn (Ace) Renchen all of Mansfield; nephews and niece, Adam and Alex Renchen and Noah and Hannah Marsh; maternal grandmother, Lois McCartney of Mansfield; and Matthew Barber, his home health aide.
Cole was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Herbert McCartney; and brother, David Hilliard.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at Hospice House of Ashland, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, OH 44805. Memorial services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Johnny Heckard, Hospice of NCO Chaplain officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Bunkerhill Cemetery, Butler.
