Cynthia L. Schiefer

TIRO: Cynthia L. Schiefer, age 51, resident of Tiro, went home to look Jesus in his eyes on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital following health complications.

Born December 29, 1961 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Billy Cox and Rosalie Adams Cox. After obtaining her GED, she continued her studies at North Central State College, making the dean's list on multiple occasions. She was a former news carrier with the Mansfield News Journal, and the manager of Denny's Restaurant in Mansfield.

She was a member of Victory in Truth Ministries in Bucyrus, and a former member of the Diamond Hill Cathedral in Mansfield.

Cindy had a big heart for animals, often rescuing strays and nursing them back to health. One of her greatest joys through the years was vacationing with family and friends at the beaches of South Carolina and Hawaii. An excellent cook, Cindy was well known for preparing many of her own special recipes. She was an avid reader who also took pleasure in roller skating, motor scooter riding and gardening. A fun-loving, outgoing, generous personality, Cindy was always helping family and friends in need. She was known as the "fun Aunt" by her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her husband, James Schiefer, whom she wed October 21, 1999; her children, Jennifer Scott and Jami Scott, both of Myrtle Beach, SC and Christopher Bond of Honolulu, Hawaii; her father, Billy (Virginia) Cox of Mansfield, her mother, Rosalie Cox of Shelby; one sister, Deanne (John) Ross of Shelby, brother, Bill Cox of Ashland, step-sister, Christian (Mike) Lamantia of Cleveland; lifelong best friend, Sherry Mehaffey and family of Loudonville, mother-in-law, Ruth Schiefer of Tiro, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard and Pearl Cox, Oliver "Buel" and Marian Adams, and father-in-law, Corliss Schiefer.

A memorial service celebrating Cindy's life will be held 7:00 PM Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby with Bishop J.C. Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
