ASHLAND: Emery Edward Young, age 91, passed away peacefully late Tuesday evening, December 18, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Born August 18, 1921, in Jeromesville, he was the son of the late Herbert and Ethel (Fry) Young. He graduated from Jeromesville High School in 1939 and became a full-time self-employed farmer. He was a hardworking farmer and fabulous machinist. On August 1, 1943 he married Martha Leiter and they raised three wonderful children. Emery was a strong gentleman, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who provided for his family so well. Emery was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Martha Young; daughters, Jeanette (Jack) Lewis of Ashland, Linda (Jerry) Millheim of Westerville and Patricia (Clayton) Moore of North Ridgeville; five grandchildren, Matthew (Brandi) and Mark Moore, Eric (Marsha) Millheim, Julie (Jerome) Foster and Chris Michel; five great-grandchildren, Haley, Beau, Stephen, Ethan and Trey; a sister, Mary Pollard of Wooster; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and very good friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and a grandson, Brandon.
Friends and family may visit from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue. Additional visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday followed by the funeral service conducted by Pastor Jeff Messner and Pastor Bob Pflueger at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
