Ethel Elizabeth Dudley

BELLVILLE: Ethel Elizabeth Dudley, age 92, of Bellville passed away Monday evening, December 3, 2012 in Country Meadow Care Center following an extended illness.

She was born November 25, 1920 in Bellville, the daughter of Curtis and Blanche (Mowry) Poorman.

On April 25, 1936 she married Kenneth O. Dudley with whom she celebrated 52 years of marriage before his death in 1988.

Ethel worked for 20 years at Clear Fork School in Bellville as a cook.

A lifelong resident of the valley, Ethel was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She was also a member of the Coffee Cup Club the Bellville Historical Society, and the Fun-N-Friendship Club. Ethel was also a member of the Lexington Senior Civic Center where she was active in their fitness and walking program.

Described as a livewire, Ethel loved being in the center of the action, and was frequently the life of the gathering. To put it simply, Ethel loved to have fun.

Ethel is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth and Judy Dudley of Foley, AL, and Randall L. and Joyce Dudley of Bellville; four grandchildren Cameron and Michelle McCluggage of Hudsonville, MI, Ken and Patty Dudley of Mansfield, Denise and Jim Hicks, and Matthew and Jennifer Dudley all of Bellville, eight great grandchildren Jimmy, Paige, Maddeline, Jackson, Miles, Morrigan, Benjamin and Elizabeth, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ethel was preceded in death by her siblings Lester Poorman, Charles Poorman, Leta Williams, and Bessie Brokaw.

Friends may call Friday, December 7, 2012 from 9:30-11:00 am in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Pastor Doug Pretorius will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church may be made at the funeral home.
