Evelyn M. Badgley

GALION: Evelyn M. Badgley, 93, Mansfield, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital, Mansfield, after a short illness.

Evelyn was born in Galion on March 1, 1919 to the late Charles A. and Minnie (Rettig) Mackey. She married Kenneth H. Badgley on July, 13, 1940 and he survives her.

She was a graduate of Galion High School Class of 1937. She was retired from Galion Building & Loan where she worked as a loan officer, a head teller and as a secretary/treasurer. Evelyn was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Galion where she sang for many years in the church choir. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star formerly Naomi Chapter #47, Galion and now of the Bucyrus Chapter. She and Ken loved traveling the United States in their motor home and belonged to the Winnebago - Itasca Travelers Club. She enjoyed playing Euchre and Pinochle, crocheting afghans and reading. She was an avid Buckeye fan and a swimmer at the Galion YMCA. She was a good mother and wife.

She is survived by her two sons Jerry and Brenda Badgley of Galion and Gary and Linda Badgley of LaPlata, MD; five grandchildren: Tom and Holli Badgley, McDonnough, GA; Mitzy Heckert and John Stirling, Veradle, WA; Jason and Wendy Badgley, Huntingtown, MD; Paul Badgley, Arvada, CO and Cheryl Badgley, Arlington, VA; and her great-grandson Stephen Badgley.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters Georgia Davis and Pauline Beach and her three brothers: Frederick Mackey, Clarence Mackey and Paul Mackey.

Friends may call Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion, with Rev. Katherine Beckett officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Church of Christ, Galion in care of the funeral home.
