Gerald "Jed" Mulherin

MANSFIELD: Gerald "Jed" Mulherin, 83, of Mansfield passed away Friday at MedCentral Health System.

Jed was born June 28, 1929 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to John and Winnie Quinn Mulherin. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jed was the owner and operator of the Mansfield Dairy Queens. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #687, American Legion, Liederkranz, was a founding member of the K of C Golf League and past President and Board member of the K of C State Golf Association for 35 years. Jed was a basketball and football official and a volunteer tax preparer for AARP for many years. He loved sports and supporting his children and grandchildren at all of their activities.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Mary Wagner Mulherin of Mansfield; sons Pat (Jana), Mike (Stephanie), Tim (Beth) all of Mansfield; daughters Maureen (Ted) Gotterbarm of South Carolina, Peggy Mulherin of Michigan, Kate (Mark) Longley of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister Joyce Weidig of Mansfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Michael, infant son, and a granddaughter Faith Longley.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Sunday from 1 - 4 pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated 11:00am Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Frank Murd officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
