Harold E. Newcomer

PERRYSVILLE: Harold E. Newcomer, 94, of Perrysville died Wednesday evening, October 9, 2013 in Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville following an extended illness.

Mr. Newcomer was born September 21, 1919 in Ashland, the son of the late Jesse and Carrie (Smith) Newcomer.

He had lived in Perrysville most of his life and was a US Army veteran of World War II serving in the Medical Regiment of the Ohio 37th Division from January 1941 through September 1945. Mr. Newcomer was the manager of the Brass Department for Mansfield Plumbing Products for 35 years, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and fixing things. He was a member of Perrysville Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie B. (Baker) Newcomer, whom he married August 10, 1944; four sons, David Newcomer of Delaware, Dennis (Cindy) Newcomer of Perrysville, Dan Newcomer of Perrysville, and Jim Newcomer of Loudonville; two daughters, Barbara Ann (Edward) McDanel of Ashland and Wendy (Ron) Trapp of South Haven, MI; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four brothers, Stanley Newcomer of Lake Worth, FL, Robert Newcomer of Atlanta, GA, Norman Newcomer of Ashland and Richard Newcomer of Mansfield; and two sisters, Marjorie Gorman of Mansfield and Frances Harned of Spring City, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Russell and Everett Newcomer.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 14 at 12:00 Noon in Perrysville Presbyterian Church with Pastor Kathleen Walkerow officiating. Burial with military honors by the American Legion and VFW will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville. Friends may call SATURDAY, Oct. 12 from 3-5pm in LINDSEY FUNERAL HOME, LOUDONVILLE.
