Helen Marie Carter Roesch

GALION: Helen Marie Carter Roesch, 84, of rural Galion, died Monday, August 20, 2012 peacefully at home surrounded by family after a brief illness.

Helen was born in East Springfield, PA on February 24, 1928 to the late Leroy Edward Carter and the late Florence Merle Jones Carter Mackey. She married F. Eugene Roesch on November 24, 1946 in Iberia United Methodist Church, Iberia and he preceded her in death.

Helen graduated from Martel High School in 1946. She was employed by Producers Livestock for 51 years in Marion, Bucyrus and Marysville as an Assistant Office Worker; a Cashier for auctioneer Harold Pfeifer, and a Washington Township Trustee in Morrow County for 14 years. Helen was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #3 Bucyrus and formerly of Mount Gilead and Galion Chapters Order of Eastern Star, Iberia United Methodist Church and the Iberia Mother's Club. She was a homemaker and a dedicated farmer's wife. Helen enjoyed being with family and attending all their activities and mowing the yard. She made the best baked beans in Morrow County. She had a caring personality and never met a stranger.

She is survived by her three daughters and son: Carolyn Roesch Carter, Galion, Bob & Terri Roesch, Galion, Trish & Mike Tracey, New Washington and Katie Roesch, Galion; grandchildren: Andy and wife, Rachel Roesch, Muncie, IN; Ashley and husband, Jim Ellashek, Columbus, Lisa Tracey, Galion and Jill and husband, Chris Weber, Oceanside, CA; great grandchildren, Anderson Jesse Roesch and James Edward Ellashek III.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister: Dick Carter, Doris Wake Graff, Leroy Carter and Chuck Carter.

Friends may call Thursday from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Iberia United Methodist Church, Iberia, with Rev. Pat Fruth officiating. Burial will follow at Iberia Cemetery, Iberia.

Memorial contributions may be made to Iberia United Methodist Church, Iberia or the Donor's Choice in care of the funeral home.
