Ida Joan Koehler

MANSFIELD: Ida Joan Koehler (Smith), 76, of Mansfield passed away November 6, 2012 at Lexington Court Care Center after a short illness.

Ida Joan was born on November 25, 1935 in Shelby, Ohio to Charles and Bernice Smith. She graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1954 and had spent most of her life in the Mansfield area. She was formerly employed with Scatter Goods and Bing's Furniture Store.

Ida was a longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She had a loving care and concern for all people and remained active with her family, her classmates and her friends. Ida's greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and family.

Ida is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Charles whom she married on September 17, 1955. She is also survived by seven children, Ted (Jacqueline) Koehler, Mary Beth (Larry) Ebert, Robert (friend Melissa) Koehler, Steven (friend Dana) Koehler, Susanna McBride, Shella (Brett) Felger, and Thomas Koehler; fifteen grandchildren, Jennifer, Janel, Robert Jr, Randall, Elise, Mitchell, Samantha, Anthony, Blaise, Justin, David, Aleah, Charity, Marc, Katherine; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Beth Ann (Dan) Baker; a half-sister, Johanna Bodin; and sister in-law Jean (Studer) Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Ida was preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia, loving mother Bernice (Guisinger) Smith, grandfather Charles Guisinger, brother James Smith, and many aunts and uncles.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Thursday from 5 - 8pm with a vigil service at 5pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 pm Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Gregory Hite officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
