MANSFIELD: James Robert "Fat Boy" King, 74, of Mansfield, died Thursday, January 24, 2013at Liberty Care Nursing Home. Born January 26, 1938 in Crestline, he was the son of James B. and Alice B. (Farris) King. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and was a member of the American Legion. A very giving and fair man, he loved telling stories, watching TV, fishing and playing cards, especially Jailhouse Rummy and Poker (which he always won).
He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Lynn (Tom) Thompson, and Brenda (Joseph) Milligan; a son, David L. (Diane) Powell; several grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven J. King; a granddaughter, Tina Lynn Foster; a brother, Frederick E. King; and two sisters, Frances I. Willet and Shirley Ann Elliott.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Doyle Peyton. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
