Jessie Miller Obituary

Jessie Mae Rader Miller

LAKE PLACID, FL: Jessie Mae Rader Miller, age 87, of Lake Placid, Florida, went to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, January 26, 2013 in Sebring, Florida. She was born May 4, 1925 to the late Jerry Rader and Kathern Ewing Rader in Latonia, Kentucky and had been a resident of Lake Placid for over 25 years, coming from Mansfield, Ohio. On March 28, 1942, she married the love of her life, John Frederick Miller and they shared 70 wonderful, loving years together. She was a charter member of Diamond Hills Baptist Church where she was the first President of the Women's Missionary. She also served as deaconess, and in many other roles within the church. Jessie was also a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Placid, where she served in many capacities. Raising her family was very important to Jessie and she served as Den Mother to Boy Scout Troop #152 in Lexington. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" at Tappan Corp. during WWII, a cafeteria worker at Lexington Local Schools and worked in the Disc Department at Therm-O-Disc. While in Florida, Jessie volunteered her time at Lake Placid schools as a classroom helper.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Fred) Cler of Muncie, IN and Ann (Roger) Miller-Pedersen of Sebring, FL; son, John P. (Kathy) Miller of Mt. Gilead, OH; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Miller on January 21, 2013; and her brother, Judge Jerry W. Rader in 1980.

A funeral service conducted by Rev. Christopher R. Thomas will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit beginning at 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Diamond Hills Baptist Church, Women's Ministry.

Just a note to express my sympathies to you in the loss of your Dad, Jan, 21 and your Mom, Jan.26, 2013. I lived under them in the apartments on Bailey Drive back in 1984-1990. I really enjoyed being their neighbor. Wow, they were married 70 years. What a blessing. I'm fondly remembering your folks.

To the Miller Family,
I worked with Jessie at T-O-D for years. She was always a lady of gentle report, of thoughtful and loving spirit and I will never forget her. You were blessed to have such a Proverb's 31 woman and I was blessed to have known her.
May you feel God's comfort and presence in the midst of your sorrow.
Prayers to you during this most difficult season of double loss.
