MANSFIELD: For her entire life, Linda Stoughton put others first. As a sister, then wife, and later as a mother, her compassion was unwavering. Both caring and attentive, Linda was a natural when it came to her profession as a nurse. She enjoyed serving others, striving to make their day just a little bit better.

On Saturday evening, October 6, 2012 Linda Kay Stoughton passed away, surrounded by her loving family, in Mansfield MedCentral Hospital following a valiant battle with breast cancer. She was 61.

Linda was born June 18, 1951 in Ashland the daughter of Frank A. and Dorothy M. (Hassing) Weidinger. After graduating from Ashland High School, Linda completed her nursing degree from North Central Technical College.

Linda spent the last 25 years as a nurse, caring for "her patients." She first worked as a nurse for Peoples Hospital in Mansfield, but the majority of her nursing experience was from Ashland Samaritan Hospital where she currently worked in the Medsurge Unit.

On September 19, 1970 Linda married Tom Stoughton in an afternoon wedding at St. Edwards Church in Ashland.

Linda had a love for animals which included her golden retriever, Bentley and her parrot, Bud.

Family came first to Linda, and her sacrificial love will be missed.

She is survived by her husband Tom Stoughton of Mansfield; daughter and son-in-law Brooke and Chris Hull of Columbus; mother Dorothy Weidinger of Ashland; sister and brother-in-law Carol and Tom Moore of Ashland, brothers Dave and Paul Weidinger of Ashland; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pat and Gary Wooldridge of Mansfield; brother-in-law Roy Little of Mansfield; four nieces and nephews as well as extended family.

Linda was preceded in death by her father Frank Weidinger, and sister-in-law SanDee Little.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where her funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Dancing For Life; a breast cancer benefit specifically created in Linda's honor by her daughter Brooke. Dancing For Life is affiliated with Mt. Carmel Hospitals Women's Health Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
