M. Viola Luedy

MANSFIELD: M. Viola Luedy, age 87, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Mansfield Memorial Homes. She was born September 12, 1925 in Red Haw, Ohio to the late Willard D. and Mable (Bishop) Jones. Viola was a member of First United Methodist Church. On April 8, 1951, she married John J. Luedy, Sr. who preceded her in death on January 25, 2013. Viola retired from Madison Schools where she was the librarian. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida and attending Cleveland Indians Spring Training games. Viola kept busy painting, sewing and making many different crafts.

She is survived by sons, John J. (Donna) Luedy, Jr. and Ronald E. Luedy, both of Mansfield; daughter, Jody (Michael) Shockley of Mansfield; grandchildren, John C. (Erin) Luedy, Krista (Brian) Schmidt, Kelly (Doug) Anschutz, Andy (Sarah) Gerber, Logan Scheurer, and Jacquelyn Luedy; great grandchildren, Ella and Jakob Schmidt, Brady and Baron Anschutz, and Jaxon and Maxdyn Luedy; four sisters, Lila Mae (Chester) Millheim of Ashland, Virginia (George) Smith of Ashland, Evelyn Gongwer of Loudonville and Margory "Marge" (Richard) Yeagle of Harland Hills, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Willard "Bill" Jones, Jr., Harold E. Jones and Francis Jones.

Family and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Rich Rader officiating. Burial will follow in Windsor Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice, 335 Glessner Avenue, Mansfield, OH 44903.

I remember Mrs. Luedy as our librarian at Lincoln Hts in the late 70's early 80's. Trying to teach elementary kids "quiet" in the library...what a patient & kind woman :-) Sorry for your families loss.
