Crestline, OH: Maxine M. Thoman, 89, of 624 John St. Apt. 1, Crestline, died suddenly on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Galion Community Hospital, Galion.
Maxine was born in Vernon Twp., on February 18, 1923 to the late Austin and Esther M. (Swarer) Watt Morris. She married Charles E. "Fritz" Thoman on August 22, 1941 and he preceded her in death on November 21, 2003
Maxine was a 1940 graduate of Tiro High School and also graduated from the Mansfield Business College. She retired from Crestline Memorial Hospital serving in administration for 25 years and worked a total of 37 years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline. She enjoyed playing cards, writing poetry, and traveling. An avid reader, Maxine served her church as a reader. She had a strong sense of family and nothing was more important to her.
She is survived by a son Chuck Thoman, Crestline, two granddaughters, Sandy and Scott Thoman Rice, Las Vegas, NV, Cindy and Tim Garrett, Crestline, great granddaughters Felicia and Victoria Garrett, Gracie Ann Rice, her brother Carl and Margie Watt, Galion, a nephew, Bill Spangler, Galion, and three nieces, Sharon Studer, Bucyrus, Tammy (Tim) McHugh, Tucson, AZ, and Kristi (Ron) Fox, Galion, several great nieces and great nephews, Chad Spangler, Shawn (Vicki) Spangler, Matthew (Sheree) Studer, Shelley (Shawn) Maiyer, Kate McHugh, Laura McHugh, Grant (Chelsea) Fox, and Olivia Fox. She also is survived by her beloved cats, Tommy and Cookie.
She was preceded in death by a sister Pauline E. Spangler and a nephew, Bob Watt.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline, and one hour prior to funeral services which will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
