Ralph E. Long

RURAL LOUDONVILLE: Ralph E. Long, 64, of rural Loudonville, died Thursday evening, Oct. 10, 2013 in Kingston of Ashland, after a four month battle with cancer. Ralph was born May 2, 1949 in Ashland and was the son of Ralph A. and Joanne C. (Morgan) Long, and lived on the Green Twp. family farm all of his life. He was a 1967 graduate of Loudonville High School and had served in the Ohio Air National Guard following high school. Ralph worked in maintenance for School Specialty in Mansfield for the past 10 years and had worked 11 years for the Rubbermaid Company of Wooster and for 22 years with Westinghouse Electric of Mansfield. As a hobby and vocation, he enjoyed fabricating and welding steel products and implements. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Perrysville and a former member of VFW Post 8586 and the American Legion Post 257.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Debra L. (Coey) Long, whom he married Feb. 14, 1976; 2 sons: Ralph D. Long of Loudonville and Daniel E. (Jaclyn) Long of Sunbury; his parents: Ralph and Joanne Long of Loudonville; his sister: Linda (Terry) Zuercher of Shelby; 2 nephews: Chris (Sarah) Zuercher and Michael (Rochelle) Zuercher all of Shelby; 1 great-nephew: Beckett Zuercher; his mother-in-law: Anita Carol Coey of Perrysville; 3 brothers-in-law: Jim (Soni) Coey of Loudonville, Dan (Marianna) Coey of Durango, CO, and Bryan (Ann) Coey of Loudonville; 4 sisters-in-law: Melony Coey of Nashville, TN, Betty (Rich) Rankin of Lucas, Amy Coey of Ashland, and Laura Coey of Perrysville; and his favorite companion dog, Ezra.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 11:00 am in First Presbyterian Church, Perrysville with Pastor Kathleen Walkerow. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 PM in LINDSEY FUNERAL HOME, LOUDONVILLE.
