SHILOH: Ronnie R. Shepherd, age 56, resident of Shiloh died Thursday, May 16, 2013 in MedCentral Shelby Hospital following injuries sustained in a one-car accident.
Born June 24, 1956 in Willard to Jake and Susie (Coffey) Shepherd he had been a lifelong Shiloh area resident. Ronnie was a 1974 graduate of Plymouth High School. An agronomist for 30 years, he currently was employed with Mid-Wood, Inc.
Ronnie attended the First United Methodist Church where he was active with the Thursday evening community dinners and Vacation Bible School. A member of the National Rifle Assoc. (NRA), he was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and teaching youth to hunt. Ronnie loved nature, animals and being outdoors whether it was camping or landscaping his yard. He was a strong supporter of the FFA and a fan of NASCAR. His artistic flair could be seen in his wood carvings and paintings. Ronnie was an honest, fun-loving, hard-working jokester who loved kids yet was a big kid himself. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Annie (Henry) Shepherd, whom he wed July 16, 2005; three sons, Chad Shepherd of Ada, Adam Shepherd of Bucyrus and Cory Shepherd of Shiloh; his siblings, Tressi (Fred) Henderson of Shelby, Dan Shepherd of Shiloh, Sarah Steele of Shiloh, Larry Shepherd of Plymouth, Jacob Shepherd of Shiloh, Carlotte (Bob) Adams of Delaware, George (Linda) Shepherd of Shiloh, Margaret (Paul) Currier of Tuscon, AZ, and David (Candi) Shepherd of Shiloh, nieces, nephews, and his faithful canine companion, Dingus and beloved felines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his niece, Shelly Shepherd and infant brother, Ollie Shepherd.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, May 20, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church,18 S. Gamble St., Shelby. Reverend Gail Angel will officiate with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the Shepherd family would appreciate memorials be made to the S.T.O.P. (Stop the Overpopulation of Pets), 1152 Lexington Ave., Mansfield, OH 44907 or The Shelby Foundation, for a Ronnie Shepherd Shiloh FFA future scholarship, 142 N. Gamble St., Shelby, OH 44875.
