CRESTLINE: Samuel A. Mansueti, 88, of Crestline passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 5, 2013.
Sam was born in Crestline on August 4, 1924 to the late Louis and Pasquelina (Renaldi) Mansueti. He married Mildred I. Fry in 1943 and she preceded him in death in 2005,
Sam lived most of his life in Crestline. He was a veteran of the U S. Navy serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict.
After his discharge from the Navy he worked at several area companies including Burch Corporation and Dominion Electric. He then received an Associate Degree from Franklin Technical College, now Franklin University, and worked for several years at Oliver Corporation, Cleveland, Ohio. His final career and passion was making pizzas as the owner of Mansueti's Pizza in Crestline, Shelby, and Galion.
In addition to making pizzas, Sam loved fishing. He organized many fishing trips to Canada for family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sam was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #2920, Crestline and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline.
He is survived by his daughter Karen and Brad Cowan, Powell, his two grandsons: Eric and Audrey Cowan, Powell, and Kevin and Amy Cowan, Dublin: four great-grandchildren: Hayley, Hannah, Ben and Kate, his nieces: Diana and Dave DeGreve, Amelia and Chuck Wallace and his nephew Carl and Marcia Giordano.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Lillian and Carl Giordano.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday with Deacon William Horning officiating, where friends and family will be invited to share favorite stories of Sam. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline with Deacon William Horning officiating. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery, Bellville. Full military honors will be given at the graveside by the U.S. Navy and the Crestline/Galion veterans organizations.
