MANSFIELD: Terry E. Dougherty, age 61, of Ashland, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 in Hospice House of Ashland following a lengthy illness. Although Terry will be missed by family and loved ones, he is now in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was born June 19, 1952 in Mansfield to the late Ellis C. and Marilyn A. (Griffon) Dougherty, and was graduated from Lexington High School in 1970. Terry also attended NCTC and completed his Electrical Journeyman apprenticeship.
A U.S. Army veteran, Terry served two years active duty during the Vietnam War where he was awarded expert rifleman and honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class.
Terry worked for over 35 years as an electrician with IBEW Local #688, and #1377.
He was a member of Church of the Open Door in Lodi, where he had many brothers and sisters in Christ.
A lifelong area resident, Terry enjoyed camping and loved his Kawasaki motorcycle. Most of all, Terry adored his family and spending time with them and his friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Regina (Estes) Dougherty; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Anthony Griffith of Delaware; three siblings, Darcel Moloney of Ontario (James dec), Tom (Karen) Dougherty of Mansfield, Dana (Jeff) Nussbaum of Mansfield; half brother, David (Linda) Dougherty of Texas; brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law whom Terry considered his own; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews whom he loved very much; and many extended family members and friends.
Friends may call Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 4-7 pm in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 pm. Friends may also call the hour prior to the ceremony. Pastor Joe Rock will officiate and burial with military honors will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
