Verne D. Campbell

MANSFIELD: Verne D. Campbell, 79, of Mansfield and formerly of Kent, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at home following an extended illness.

The son of Delmar and Ruth (Lidington) Campbell, Verne was born July 6, 1934 in Akron and graduated from Central High School in 1951. Verne attended Akron University and was certified through the American Bankers Association.

On June 16, 1956 he married Julia Marie Lazar. Working for National City Bank for 38 years, Verne retired in 1998 as vice president. Verne lived in the Mansfield and Ashland communities for over 30 years.

Devoted to his family, Verne was a committed husband, father and grandfather. He loved to travel, especially with his family. Vacations to the beach and Yellow Stone National Park were Verne's favorite family vacation destinations.

A skilled carpenter, Verne enjoyed the challenge of refurbishing houses. He also enjoyed working on cars. Verne was an active member of Habitat for Humanity of Ashland.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marie Campbell of Mansfield; children, David (Luz) Campbell of the Philippines, Julia (Mike) Kneale of Stow, Jennifer (Brian) Wehry of Mansfield, Greg (Andrea) Campbell of Hilliard and Eric (LeeAnn) Campbell of Columbus; grandchildren, Vern C. Campbell, Benjamin and Daria Campbell, Eva Marie and Katie Wehry and Allan, Danny and Kathy Kneale; brother, Terry Campbell of Cuyahoga Falls; half brother, Richard Palmer Campbell of Houston, TX; along with nieces, nephews and extended family.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Campbell; and a sister, Marjorie Miracle.

A life celebration will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Campbell family home, 126 Redwood Road, Mansfield from 3-7 pm.

Memorial contributions in Verne's memory may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
