MANSFIELD: Willis F. "Son" Crider, 90, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield. Born April 14, 1923 in Brinkhaven, Ohio, he was the son of Clifford and Cora (Robinson) Crider. A Veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II on two fronts. He retired from Barnes Manufacturing as a millwright and carpenter and had also worked in construction. Prior to that, he had also worked for Westinghouse. He attended the Church of God on Trimble Road and enjoyed fishing on Clearfork while on his sons pontoon or anywhere he could as long as he was with his sons.
He is survived by four sons, James (Debbie) Crider, Larry (Barb) Lamb all of Manfield, Eddie (Paula) Lamb of Waynesville, NC and Willis (Sharon) Crider of Hayesville; a daughter, Linda Osburn of Mansfield; 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Catherine) Crider and Robert (Angel) Crider both of Mansfield; one sister, Lucille (John) Barber of Butler; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; a cousin, Bessie; and his best friend, James Davis of Bellville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine "Kate" Gleisinger Crider; two sisters, Beulah and Ruth; and two brothers, Cloyd and Allen.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at the funeral home conducted by James Davis. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park where full military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
