MANSFIELD: Leo Shoulders, 86, passed this life Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Shoulders was born on Wednesday, October 12, 1927 to the late John Henry and Idell Weaver Shoulders, Sr. in Athens, Alabama and had lived in Mansfield the past 63 years. Leo was employed with the Ohio Brass Company. When the Ohio Brass Company offered the employees a chance to buy the company, Leo was a part of the group that remained under the new company name of Mansfield Ferrous and retired with 36 plus years of service between the two companies in 1992. He was a member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where he served on the Father's Board and faithfully attended Sunday School. Leo enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, fishing, and never missed listening to a Cleveland Indians game.
Leo is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Roy and Kristie Shoulders, Ashland; 4 sisters: Mary E. Sanderfer, Athens, Nancy Sanderfer, Dorothy Owens, and M. Jean (Jerry) Luckie, Mansfield; 1 brother :
Joseph (Ruby) Shoulders, Athens, sister-in law: Bennie Shoulders, Mansfield; last surviving aunt: Rosie French, Athens; special friend: Virginia Erwin, Mansfield; host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents Leo was also preceded in death by his wife Ossie Lean, and his brother John H. Jr.
Friends may call Wednesday, after 2 in the Ruth Anna Lee Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Services, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. The Homegoing Celebration will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m. in the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with his pastor Rev. Clinton N. Hearns officiating and Leo's nephew Elder Link Briggs, Sr. delivering the eulogy. Interment will be in Mansfield Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the family home Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m.
