Catherine Margaret Hallabrin

MANSFIELD: Catherine Margaret Hallabrin, 94, of Mansfield, died April 21, 2014 after a short illness, surrounded by her family and friends. Born Thanksgiving day, November 27, 1919 in Mansfield, OH, she was the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Hallas) Mitsch. She retired from Bank One of Mansfield after 20 years in the trust department. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus auxiliary, Mansfield Liederkranz, Mansfield Liederkranz senior dance group, Sons of Herman, and 60 plus club. In her free time, she loved to play cards with her friends. Her greatest joy was having her house filled with all the nieces and nephews from each generation. She will be remembered for all her wonderful baking and great patience with teaching her skills, especially pulled strudel. Catherine was a member of St. Peter's Parish and volunteered in making thousands of cabbage rolls and potica throughout the years.

Surviving are her step-daughter and husband, Anita and Dave McGrath; step-granddaughter and husband, Melanie and Richard Sala; step-great granddaughter, Lidia Sala; nieces and nephews, Shirley (Tony) Weibl, Frank (Debbie) Mitsch, Joey Mitsch, Suzie Heaberlin, Pamela Romoser; multiple other nieces and nephews; sisters in-law, Margaret Hallabrin and Elaine Mitsch; multiple great nieces and great nephews; several great great nieces and nephews; and an innumerable amount of God children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Cecil Bachelder; second husband, Joseph Hallabrin; brothers, Frank Mitsch and Joseph Mitsch; and sister in-law, Ella Mitsch.

A Mass of Christian Burial, conducted by Father Weibl, will be held Friday, April 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 104 W, 1st Street, Mansfield, OH 44902. Family and friends are invited to visit for one hour prior to the service, from 9:30-10:30 at the church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monsinger Edward C. Dunn Foundation for education at St. Peter's Catholic School, 104 W. 1st Street, Mansfield, OH 44902.
