Beverly "Bev" Jean Maffett

SPRING, TX: Beverly "Bev" Jean Maffett, 75, of Spring, TX, formerly of Mansfield, died Monday, May 19, 2014 at her home after a courageous battle with ALS. Born June 29, 1938 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of James and Helen (Cervinski) Southard. A 1956 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, Bev lived her whole life in Mansfield up until the last two and half years when she moved to Texas with her husband. One of her favorite hobbies was to go shopping for herself and her grandchildren and even after her illness made shopping harder for her, Bev was still able to continue with the help of her husband, Ray.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond L. Maffett, Sr. of Spring, TX; sons, Raymond L. (Sandy) Maffett, Jr. of Mansfield, Rick A. (Kathy) Maffett of Spring, TX, Russell E. Maffett (Vicky Buckley) of Mansfield, and Ronald L. Maffett of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Jamie, Amber, Derek, Cory, Chelsea, Austin, and Kurtis; three great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia (Robert) Zody and Doris Norris; sister-in-law, Marcia Southard; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Southard.

Friends may call Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by her grandson, Derek Maffett. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
