TIRO: Willard Jones, age 84, resident of Tiro died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 30, 1930 near Morehead, Kentucky to Garcie and Rella (Hoskins) Jones, he had been a Tiro resident since 1970.
Willard worked as a crane operator at Copperweld in Shelby where he retired after 46 years. A member of the First Church of God in Shelby, he enjoyed going to auctions, playing Bingo, and going out to eat.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Jones (Linda) of Attica and David (Patricia) Jones of Galion; two daughters, Sharon (David) Agin of Crestline and Carolyn (Jim) Morehart of Tiro, his lady friend, Grace Hoskins of Shelby; six grandchildren, Beth Jones, Andy Jones, Scott Jones, Angela Alterio, Lauren Keppler and Shannon Agin; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Arvania Thomas of Shelby; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Jones on August 12, 2003; five brothers, Hubert, Delbert, Trubie, Jesse and Beacher Jones and four sisters, Effie Jones, Ida Wallace, Zelda Lambert and Hazel Lacey.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Pastor George Johnson will officiate with interment in Crawford County Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God, 3616 St. Rt. 39, Shelby, OH 44875.
