MANSFIELD: Eleanor F. Garrison, 81, of Mansfield passed away Monday morning, June 9, 2014 in Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital.
The daughter of George and Mary (Wright) Adkins, Eleanor was born June 3, 1933 in Morehead, Kentucky. She graduated from Russellville High School in 1951.
After moving to Mansfield in 1951, Eleanor worked for numerous local businesses including Tawse Drugstore, KMart, Richland Hospital, and Mifflin Care Center. Her most important job however was that of wife and mother.
A passionate reader, Eleanor instilled the importance and love of reading in her children and grandchildren. Loving and tender hearted, she was always surrounded by a grandchild, or pet.
Competitive, Eleanor played to win, and showed no mercy when it came to games, especially cards and bingo.
She was a longstanding member of Mansfield Baptist Temple.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters Toni (Kevin) Zehe of Mansfield, Tamara Ransom of Mansfield, Judy Baker of North Carolina, Sandra Garrison of Mansfield; son Donald (Jennifer) Garrison of Ashland; grandchildren Rachel Jones, Jennifer Diehl, Christopher Ransom, Elizabeth Ransom, Mignon Miller, Aaron Miller, Jack Baker, Stephanie, Ronnie, John, Joe, and Joshua Garrison; step grandchildren Quata Tucker, Nathan Zehe, and Rachel Bevier; 13 great grandchildren; siblings Marie Patrick of Dayton, George Adkins of Patriot, IN, and John Adkins of Lawrenceburg, IN; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Franklin Garrison; siblings Juanita Bartlebaugh, Mary Hopewell, Carl Adkins, Harry Adkins, Jack Adkins.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 6-8pm in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Friday at 11am. Pastor Al Humble will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
