MANSFIELD: Frank Statler, 95, of Mansfield, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Liberty Nursing Center of Mansfield. He was born July 11, 1918 in Danville, Ohio to the late Herman and Gladys (Pipes) Statler.
Frank was known for his remarkable work ethic. He retired from Gorman Rupp after 32 years of service as a laborer. Before working at Gorman Rupp, he worked for Flexible Company in Loudonville and Westinghouse. A talented gardener, Frank grew and tended to some of the most beautiful flower beds at his home. He was an avid spectator sportsman for baseball, with his favorite team being the Cleveland Indians. Frank was an avid Lake Erie fisherman and enjoyed working on his CB radio. He attended the Apostolic Christian Church on Middle Bellville Road. Above all, Frank loved his family and held true to his morals.
He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (Freund) Statler of Mansfield; two children, Neal (Nancy) Statler of Loudonville and Linda (Ervin) Fackler of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Bill and Bob Statler and Kevin and Kimberly
Conrad; and three great-grandchildren, Jaret and Katie Statler and Jack Conrad.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Edward Talley, Edward Ballitch, the staff of Liberty Nursing Home and many special neighbors.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park.
