Richard M. Seitz

MANSFIELD: Richard M. Seitz, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 29, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 18, 1928 to Karl H. and Lucille Armstrong Seitz in Mansfield. He was the oldest living resident on Logan road, having lived in his boyhood home since 1942.

He retired from Therm-O-Disc in 1993 after 33 years as a buyer. Richard was a member of First Alliance Church where he served as Mission Treasurer. For many years, he served as a Sunday school teacher at Hilltop Community Church. Richard served as military police in the National Guard. He was an avid bowler on the Therm-O-Disc league and loved to be outside tending to his garden and flowers.

We mourn our loss but rejoice for his gain. He was a man as God intended him to be. Because of that, he was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, and a friend to all. Richard was a gentle, loving, caring person and was a great caregiver to his daughter Janet for over 16 years.

Richard is survived by his loving, caring wife of 49 years, Roberta; and his children, Daniel (Kathy) Seitz, Marilee (Dean) Kastran, Janet Seitz, and Master Sgt. Timothy (Sharon) Seitz. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Eagle, Cherie (Kevin) Larner, Dino (Joey) Kastran, Hillary Kastran, Emilee (Chris) Wilson, Jon (Carly) Kastran, Derick Gabel, Aubrey and Timothy Seitz; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David, and twin brother, Robert.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 11:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Mel Hobson, will begin at 1 p.m. Military graveside services, conducted by Wright Patterson Air Force Base, in honor of his son Tim's service in the military, will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
