Stephen Anthony Ohl

WESTERVILLE: On July 1, 2014 Stephen Anthony Ohl of Westerville, lost his final valiant and courageous battle in an over 20 year war with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Steve was born on August 13, 1963, in Mansfield, Ohio to Katherine Eva Ohl (Zimmer) and Joseph Anton Ohl.

Steve graduated from Mansfield St. Peter High School and went on to attend and graduate from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. Steve was currently employed by Alliance Data Systems as a Treasury Manager. Steve was active in the Knights of Columbus as a member of Council 11445 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Worthington. Steve was also a sports fanatic that participated in many sports as an athlete, coach, referee or umpire, and fan, with baseball being his true passion. Steve was an avid Cleveland Indians fan that stuck with the Tribe through thick and thin from his earliest years of listening to games on AM Radio.

Steve was preceded in death by fraternal grandparents Joseph and Barbara Ohl, maternal grandparents Nickolaus and Eva Zimmer; father Joseph Anton Ohl; sister AnneMarie (Brian) Frasz; and nephew Roger Mahaffey.

Steve is survived by his sons Andrew Ohl of Worthington, Ohio, Michael Mahaffey and grandson Liam of Findlay, Ohio; mother Katherine Eva Ohl (Zimmer) of Mansfield, Ohio; brother Paul Ohl (JoEllen) of Alexandria, Ohio; sister Katherine (Michael) Johnson of Fairview Park, Ohio; cousins Rosemarie (Mark) Sabath, Peggy Keiser, Susan Zimmer and Heidi Zimmer; nieces and nephews, Nathanael, Caleb and Elizabeth Ohl, Megan and Adam Frasz, Bohdi, Finley, Olive and Phoebe Johnson, Miranda, Maura, and Marissa Peecher; and great-niece Sophie Adams-Mahaffey.

Steve lived a selfless life of sacrifice for others and will be greatly missed by all his many friends and family. Steve welcomed everyone and treated everyone as an equal. May the examples that he set guide all those close to him in remembrance of the great man and friend that he was to all.

Friends may call from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N High Street, Worthington, OH 43085, where a vigil prayer service will begin at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 5750 N High St, Worthington, OH 43085. Father Anthony Dinovo, Celebrant.
