Joyce Delight Brown

JOHNSVILLE: Joyce Delight (Warren) Brown of Johnsville went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday evening July 7, 2014 in Lexington Court Care Center. She was 83.

She was born September 13, 1930 to the late Norman Edward & Edna Hazel (Lovejoy) Warren in Canton, PA. After Joyce graduated high school, she married William O. Brown on December 1, 1950. For 13 years she worked as a nurse's aide at the former Overlook Nursing Home on Algire Rd.

She dedicated her life to making a loving home for her husband and two children. In spare time she enjoyed embroidery, baking, canning, reading, and playing games like cards and dominos.

Joyce was a member of Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church and was active in the women's ministry, in organizing dinners…too many other ways to list. She dearly loved her church family and spent many hours cleaning the building alongside her husband.

In addition to her husband, Bill Brown of Johnsville, to whom she was married for 63 wonderful years, she is survived by a daughter Judy Manley of Johnsville; son and daughter-in-law Norman & Dora Brown of Johnsville; four grandchildren (and spouses): Michael (Heather) Manley of Ashland; Maj. Daniel (Jennifer) Manley of Fort Campbell, KY; Darryl (April) Manley of Wooster; and Julie (Duane) Leonhard of Mt. Gilead; and eleven great-grandchildren: Sarah Manley, Ashlyn King, Paige King, Brevin King, Lane Manley, Ashlyn Manley, Ali Manley, Brooke Manley, Tori Manley, Abby Leonhard, and Brenna Leonhard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Althea Warren, and a son-in-law Larry Manley.

The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church, 7369 County Road 242 in Johnsville, with Pastors Heidi Welch and Simon Avila conducting the service. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park near Lexington.
