Chris A. Boocks

MANSFIELD: Chris A. Boocks, 90, of Mansfield, died Monday afternoon, July 7, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born February 22, 1924 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Helen (Veranakis) and Michael Kalis.

Chris enjoyed tending to her flower beds and watching and listening to birds, especially her cardinal. She retired from Kroger after 35 years of service. Chris was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Her hard-working and caring spirit will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a daughter, Janine Boocks; a sister-in-law, Margie Kalis; nieces and nephews, Emily Kiner, John Kalis, Andy Collias, Kiki Gonsiorak and Emil Collias; and her canine companions Jack and Fea. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Russell Kalis; a sister, Virginia Collias; and godfather, Peter Orfanos.

Friends may visit from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Father Dean Kokanos will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, 3221 S. Lake Drive, St. Francis, WI 53235-3799; Humane Society of Richland County, 3025 Park Avenue West, Ontario, OH 44906; or Child Fund International, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294.
