MANSFIELD: Kenneth E. Wukela, 67, of Mansfield died July 21, 2014 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital after a long illness.
He was born March 1, 1947 in Mansfield to Daniel and Irene (McKenzie) Wukela.
Ken worked for many years in the photo finishing industry, including at All Prints and Lifetouch. He was previously a law enforcement officer with the Mansfield Police Department, the Richland County Sheriff's Department, and the Ohio Highway Patrol. While living in Connecticut, Ken was a volunteer with Boys Town. Locally, he was a member of the Elks and a regular at the Red Fox Tavern. He enjoyed golfing, gambling, and sports - especially Browns and Buckeyes football. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene (Charlton) Wukela of Mansfield, whom he married April 28, 1988 in Liverpool, N.Y.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin and Gary Hunt of Delaware, OH, and Karen Wukela and Nick Molovich of Cleveland; a son, Kevin Wukela of Pittsburgh; two step-daughters, Annette Welker and Tobey Roberts, and Tobey's husband, Ron Roberts, all of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Sean and Kevin Hunt of Delaware, OH, Kyle Spargo of Findlay, Alex Spargo, and Cameron and Rylee Welker, all of Mansfield; and the mother of his children, Kathleen Wukela of Mansfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny "Skip" Wukela; and a step-son, Todd Laughlin.
Calling hours will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 from 3-6 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, where memorial services will begin at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice.
