Charles "Charlie" J. Lilly

CRESTLINE: Charles "Charlie" J. Lilly, 78, of 404 South Wiley, Crestline, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 11, 2014 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, Mansfield after a long illness.

Charlie was born in Raleigh County, WV on May 10, 1936 to the late Charles "Les" and Garnet (Stover) Lilly. He married Linda L. Scarbro on July 3, 1963 in West Virginia and she survives him.

Charlie attended Clearfork High School in Ameagle, WV, and moved to Crestline where he lived most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith. He was employed for 32 years by Komatsu Dresser, Galion until his retirement in 1990. Charlie was a member of AMVETS Post 1979, Galion, American Legion Scarborough Post 243, Galion and VFW Post 2920, Crestline. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country from 1954 to 1956. While in hospice care, the VA recognized him and his brother George for their service. Charlie loved the outdoors, enjoyed mowing and tinkering with cars.

He is survived by his two sons: Charles (Cathy) Lilly of Albemarle, NC, Rodney Lilly of Crestline, his two daughters: Sheila Winters of Taylorsville, NC and Ashley Lilly of Mansfield, his step daughter Sandra (David) Lilly of New Castle, DE, his brother George (Dorma) Lilly, Crestline, his two sisters, Janet (Loren) Walnum, Crestline, Kay Straub, Mansfield, twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother Gordon Lilly and his sister, Kathleen Drulyk.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
