Margaret Elizabeth Lewis

MANSFIELD: Margaret Elizabeth Lewis passed away Wednesday morning, August 13, 2014 in Liberty Nursing Care Center in Mansfield. She was 92.

She was born December 5, 1921 to the late Harry & Grace (Zeiger) Hildebrand in Morrow County. Margaret was graduated with the class of 1940 from Johnsville High School and went on to graduate from Mansfield Business College.

On October 12, 1940, she married Donald F. Lewis and together they spent 63 wonderful years until he passed away in 2003. Although she worked for 6 years at Joyce Fabrics, her primary job was to make a loving home for her husband and children.

Margaret was a great musician who loved playing the piano and was also a very talented seamstress.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at North Woodbury where she played the piano and organ and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

She is survived by two sons: Don (Jeannie) Lewis of Midland, TX; and Rick (Evelyn) Lewis of Shelby; six grandchildren: Casey Lewis, Katie Lewis, Steven Lewis, Kenneth Lewis, Jason Lewis, and Thomas Lewis; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Doris Hildebrand, Maxine Hildebrand and Jim Stump; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband Donald Lewis, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Irene Tischer, Harold Hildebrand, Trent Hildebrand, Dale Hildebrand, and Sandy Stump; and a brother-in-law Dale Lewis.

The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2014 in Snyder Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Avenue in Mansfield. A service celebrating her life will be held 10 a.m. Monday, August 18, in St. John Lutheran Church at North Woodbury, 6808 State Route 314 in Mansfield, Pastor Patrick Kelly will officiate and burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
