Katherine "Kay" E. Marcum

MANSFIELD: Katherine "Kay" E. Marcum, 80, of Mansfield, made her journey to her heavenly home Monday, August 18, 2014 at Lexington Court Care Center after a brief illness. She was born March 17, 1934 in Manhattan, New York to the late Lawrence and Margaret (Byrne) Nolan.

She was an area homemaker most of her life and loved her family greatly. Kay's life revolved around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she enjoyed spoiling them and spending time with them. She was very proud of her Irish background and was an active member of St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church. She was a member of the choir and Rosary Altar Society for 42 years. Kay enjoyed singing and her sweet soprano voice will be missed in the church choir. Her New York roots never left her and she was a die-hard Yankees fan, which created quite a rivalry with her husband, Don who cheered for the Cleveland Indians.

Kay is survived by a son, Donald L. Marcum (Moni Massa); daughter, Kathleen E. (Jeffrey) Eby; six grandsons, Benjamin (Teresa), Sam (Marissa), Daniel, Joshua, Jared and Jonah (Dacota); three granddaughters, Christina (Michael), Meagan and Amanda (Andy); seven great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Justin, Lauren, Xavier, Abram, Ruthie and Norah and two more on the way; two brothers, Lawrence (Ann) Nolan of CA and Thomas (Judy) Nolan of PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Marcum; granddaughter, Sara Ruth; and brother, Joseph Nolan.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 in the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial recited by Father Nelson Beaver will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church, 1630 Ashland Road, Mansfield, OH 44905.
