Baernard P. Balliett
THE DALLES, OR: Bernard P. "Bernie" Balliett, 86, of The Dalles, OR and formerly of Galion, died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at his home.
Born May 30, 1928 in Galion, he was the son of Grover and Kathryn (Bowl) Balliett. He married Barbara (Webb) Balliett on October 26, 2006 and she preceded him.
He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1946 and served in The United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bernie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Galion. He was a member of AMVETS 1979, American Legion in Oregon and the AARP.
He was a heavy equipment operator for the former Iberia Earth Moving. Bernie enjoyed showing his 1951 Harley Pan Head motor cycle and 1988 Sportster for ten years having them since they were new. He also was an excellent accordion player.
He is survived by son: Jeffrey Lee Balliett of Dana, TX; grandchildren: Greg and Todd Case and Brian Thoman; three great-grandchildren; brother: Clayton Balliett of Reynoldsburg; and sister: Edie (Ray) Stevens of Galion.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son: Mike Balliett; daughter: Judy Case; sisters: Mabel Helfrich and Ruth Sopky; brothers: Harold, Clarence, Ray and Robert Balliett; and a grandson.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion where services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, August 29, with Rev. Ann Pairan officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
Full Military Honors will be held by The United States Army and Galion/Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail following the service.
