Eugene Rust Obituary
TWINSBURG: Eugene C. Rust 86, loving father and devoted husband, passed this world on October 16, 2010. Born in 1924 in Fredericktown, Ohio, Gene ("Rusty") served in WWII as Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the 672nd Bomb and 417th Bomb Group in the South Pacific.

He fought in New Guinea, Noemfor Island (Coral Sea), Philippines and Okinawa with an Honorable Discharge on December 24, 1945. Soon after he met his future wife, Pauline Marie (Betty) Barton (d. 2008), married in 1947 and eventually settled in Solon then retired to Twinsburg. An active member of the community, he served on Solon School Board, City Council and as Deacon at the Solon Community Church.

Gene excelled as a golfer, fisherman, pool shark, and was an overall sports enthusiast - a devoted Browns and Indians fan.

He is survived by his three children and four grandchildren, Alan Rust of CT (wife, Jan; children Max and Katharine), Paula Jones of CO (son, Jason Jones), Lori Rust of MT (son, Luke Haberkern); and two brothers, Robert (wife Shirley) and Keith.

A Celebration of Life ceremony to be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 20 at the Solon Community Church; burial military service Thursday, October 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Ankenytown Cemetery at the Owl Creek Church of the Brethren, Township Hwy 288 (Toms Rd).

Donations gladly accepted at the VA Home, Dementia Ward, Sandusky, OH and Stein Hospice.
